What is Kita-Kon?

Every August, fans gather to celebrate their love of everything anime and gaming. This annual anime convention hosts a wide variety of programming in several themed rooms, such as viewing rooms, panel/workshop rooms, gaming rooms, and a dealer’s room. There are also several special events held throughout the convention weekend.

How Much Will A Badge Cost?

The price of admission can vary depending on the type of badge you purchase and whether you pre-register before the event. Currently our badges range from $10 to $45. You can visit our registration pages for more information.

Are There Any Age Restrictions?

The convention is open to all ages. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times. Children 5 or under get in free. While we do accept all ages at the convention, please keep in mind that most of the events hosted at Kita-Kon are aimed at an audience of 13+. Some events may also be closed to those under the age of 18.

Who Organizes Kita-Kon?

Kita-Kon is organized by the Lakehead Anime Society (LAS) and the Lakehead University Anime & Manga Club (LUM). Lakehead Anime Society is an incorporated not-for-profit group and LUM is a sanctioned Lakehead University Club. These groups operate with the help of several dedicated volunteer staff members.

What Should I Expect After Pre-Registering?

After you pre-register for Kita-Kon, you will receive either a receipt from Paypal or a registration number from Kita-Kon, these are your proof of purchase. To sign in and receive your badge at the convention you need to bring your proof of purchase and a piece of ID, which can be government or a reliable 3rd party such as a school ID. If you plan on attending 18+ panels, you MUST have a government issued photo ID

Do You Have Any Hotel Group Rates?

We currently do not have any groups rates, but we are currently in talks with hotels in the area.

When Is The Next Kita-Kon?

Dates can be found on the front page of the website. If we haven’t announced the dates for the next event, we usually release them near the end of our fiscal year, which is November 15th.

I Can No Longer Attend, Do You Offer Refunds?

We do not offer refunds, however we do offer a number of ways to transfer your badge. The first option is to sell or gift your badge to another person. Once you have found a person to transfer to, fill out the form and your registration will be transferred. The second option is to hold your badge until the next convention. This can only be done once per badge, and can not be held for multiple years. We reserve the right to stop transfers if we suspect anything to be illegitimate. Badge transfer form.
